A glebe terrier is a written survey or inventory, produced on an archdeacon's visitation, detailing the glebe lands and property of the parish held by the Rector as part of the endowment of his benefice, and which provided the means by which he could support himself and his church. Although they were required from 1571 onwards, only a few remain but they give an interesting snapshot of each occasion.
