Built on glebe land by Phyllis Mary Addison after the death of her husband in 1927. Apparently, its construction was vehemently opposed by the squire, William Wright, but to no avail. The land was purchased from the church commissioners on 10 October 1928 and the house built immediately thereafter. Mrs Addison lived there until selling it to Gilbert (Bill) Trumper on 6 May 1963 for £4,500. He and his wife, Maggie, and their children Patricia and Trevor were resident for just 2 years.
The Trumpers pioneered suburban living in Wold Newton. They were the first residents of the village without any connection to, and living in a building which was not owned by, either the farming estate or the church.
On 24th May 1965 the house was bought from Bill Trumper by John and Margaret Buckle for £6,000. The Buckle family tenure continued until 20 August 2024.
